A wedding band is worn every day and stays on your finger for years, so comfort and durability matter as much as looks. Keep these points in mind when choosing:
Karat: 14 or 18?
The most common karats for wedding bands are 14 and 18. 14 karat is harder and more scratch-resistant; 18 karat has a higher gold content and a livelier color but is slightly softer. If you work a lot with your hands, 14 karat can be a practical choice.
Width and thickness
Slim bands look delicate; wide bands make a bolder statement and usually contain more gold (and so cost more). Try the width on before you decide.
Comfort fit
A band with a slightly rounded inner surface sits more comfortably and feels less tight after long wear.
Finger size
- If possible, measure in the middle of the day; fingers are slimmer in the morning and in the cold.
- Wide bands can feel a little tighter at the same size.
- The band should neither spin freely nor be hard to wear: it should pass the knuckle with slight resistance and then sit comfortably.
Engraving and personalization
You can have a date or name engraved on the inside. If you want engraving, order well before the wedding.
How is the price set?
The price of a wedding band depends on its weight, karat and craftsmanship, and it moves with the gold rate. Follow current prices on our live price list and call us about our pieces.
